One day tour: For Beginners, For Amateurs, For Anglers, For Family, For Children

The Reel Thing Charters runs the largest vessel running out of Carrum. Perfect for work jollies, parties, and team building, this boat can take up to 10 people fishing at a time! If you’re looking for a corporate Christmas party, this is the boat for you. They depart from Carrum, Melbourne, where Skipper Mark and his deckhand will take you fishing for the prize catch of Snapper, with bycatch of Flathead, Pinkies, Snook, Salmon, Rock Cod and Gummy Sharks. The boat you will be fishing aboard is a 28’ Axium. It is powered by twin Mercury engines and equipped with Garmin and Lowrance electronics. It features a large deck space and live bait tank, as well as a porta pottie. Trips include the use of all fishing equipment and lures. The Reel Thing Charters are run by a friendly and professional crew who love taking new guests out and teaching them the best techniques needed to catch the prized fish species. They offer trips suited to both large and mixed groups and can accommodate your needs whether you are looking for one spot or trips for large groups. During the annual Tuna season from around April to July, The Reel Thing are based out of Portland, Victoria where they offer exciting full day trips.

Mark did a great job, he certainly knows his job! I thoroughly recommend these charters, we had fun and were lucky enough to catch plenty fish. I have read other reports about not catching fish but if they are not hungry then they will not bite, I will certainly go back! You are expected to bait your own hook believe it or not that is part of fishing the crew are there to help and guide you which they do very well! Thanks again Mark I shall come earlier in the season next time.

Myself and four friends finally went out on third try (due to fickle Melbourne weather) Boat was excellent and Mark and Joel were very friendly and knowledgeable .We only hit two marks but struck good sized snapper straight off.Highly recommend and will be back. Neither The crew or us were permitted by law to clean the fish at the ramp, but with the help of You Tube we were able to do it ourselves which is part of the experience of catching your own fish. What we paid for was location of fish, in a safe boat ,the provision of good rods and bait and that's what we got at a very reasonable price for the experience.
