I run two vacation rentals with Lake Okeechobee access in Buckhead Ridge Florida. Lake Okeechobee is one of the world's premier large mouth bass lakes, also known for speckled perch (crappie), bluegill, red eared sun fish, pickerel and catfish. If you fish for large mouth bass, then you have heard of Lake Okeechobee. The fishing is good hear all year long. I prefer fishing in the summer. Tourists from the north in the US and Canada come down to escape the cold weather. Every thing is less crowded in the summer and the artificial, bight is better. The majority of large mouth caught in winter are caught on wild shiners. You can catch large mouth on artificials in winter but you have to work harder.
The larger of my rentals is called Three Oaks It sleeps nine. The smaller is Lone Oak, it sleeps six. Both rentals are on canals that will take you too the Buckhead locks that open up out in to the lake. Lone oak is $100 per night. Three Oaks is $125 per night. I have a 15' aluminum boat with a 9.9 hp out board. it rents for $100 per day or $350 per week. I also have a 17'6" Key West I can take you out in . The rates for the big boat are $250 for 4 hrs. and $350 for 6 hrs. Most of the local guides charge $350 per four hrs. plus bait, up to $1.00 per shiner. You may use as many as 50 shiners. I know some guides that I will recommend but if you want to use artifiicials you have to ask specifically.
